The Hotel Kanra of Kyoto, the millennium ancient city, is a space that embodies all its "Japaneseness". Named after the combination of the characters "KAN" (experience) and "RA", it was conceived in 2016 by renovating a 23-year-old building and connecting it to an adjacent one. Unlike the exterior where the past remains intact, the interior blends the traditional Japanese atmosphere with modern sophistication. Kanra Hotel's concept and aim is to inherit tradition while championing innovation naturally.
Kanra Hotel has 68 rooms of 4 types, decorated in a modern Machiya style that reinterprets the traditional residential form representing Kyoto. Each room has a small artificial garden and a Japanese-style door at the entrance, giving you the feeling as if you are entering another house from within the building. Inside is a sitting area with tatami mats, a staple of traditional Japanese way of life. Traditional Japanese loungewear, called yukata, is also prepared for each guest. The cozy scenery of Kyoto spreads out from the window of the room where warm colors and materials are used. In the bathroom, there are not only well prepared amenities but also Hinoki bath, so you can rest and relax on your journey.
