A space for finding my own pace
The name 'Totu' was inspired by the French word for turtle, 'Tortue.' It embodies the desire to enjoy space slowly, like a turtle. The host applied his values to this space, believing that the power of the space lies in the individual experiences and time accumulated within it, rather than in visual consumption. This is why they aimed to create a comfortable space without anything jarring. Drinking coffee, listening to music, reading a book, lounging on the couch enjoying the sunlight, drinking wine with friends while feeling the breeze on a summer night - all these are small moments of happiness that can be found in everyday life. Totu-Seoul is a space where people can spend happy moments.

This space was created by renovating a building that had been used as a sewing factory for over 50 years. Rather than forcing a change, they utilized the existing structure and window shapes. The building consists of a detached house with a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, shower room, and terrace. To enhance comfort, all the furniture is designed with low height and straight lines in neutral tones. You can read a book with music flowing from the CD player while watching the leaves rustling outside the window, or sit on the small terrace beside the living room and feel the passage of time. The kitchen allows for simple cooking. One of the features of this space is that they actively practice zero-waste operations. All guidebooks and paper products are made of recycled paper, and solid toothpaste and natural sponges are provided. Detergent and shower products are refilled at zero-waste shops around the accommodation.

Totu-Seoul is located in Huam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Even a leisurely walk will allow you to feel the warm atmosphere of the neighborhood, where you can see people asking each other how they are doing. There are cafes, bars, and independent bookstores along the alleyways. One fun aspect is finding a space that suits the mood of the day from among the various things to enjoy. In the busy city of Seoul, there is a space where you can continue your own story. In Totu-Seoul in Huam-dong, the host hopes people will take the time to relax at their own pace, away from an overzealous and stressful day, enjoying their right to idleness.
