2019년 11월, 교토 '타카가미네'에 약 2만 4천 제곱미터의 광대한 부지를 지닌 아만교토가 오픈했다. 아만교토는 건축가 켈리 힐(Kerry Hill)이 20년 동안 구상한 아만다운 공간과 일본의 전통이 아름답게 융합되어 있다. 자연 속에 녹아드는 한적한 분위기를 지닌 아만교토는 그 자체로 정원이자 숲이고, 산이며, 자연으로서 존재한다. 약수터와 폭포, 산에서 물이 흐르는 계곡, 돌과 거암이 쌓인 유적 같은 벽과 담장, 여러 개의 지장과 석상이 놓인 길, 그리고 터 가장 안쪽에 있는 이끼 낀 대계단 등 아만교토에서는 자연을 거닐며 그 소리와 향기, 경치를 만끽할 수 있다. 아만교토에 머무르면 이곳의 다섯 가지 요소인 '돌, 물, 빛, 숲, 이끼'를 마주하며 오감을 키우는 경험을 할 수 있다.

In November 2019, Aman Kyoto opened on a vast site of approximately 24,000㎡ in 'Takagamine,' Kyoto. Aman Kyoto is a synergistic combination of sustaining Japanese traditions and architect Kerry Hill's interpretation of Aman's design ethos developed over the span of 20 years. Aman Kyoto built harmoniously in nature is a vast garden, forest, mountain, and nature collectively.

아만교토의 객실과 파빌리온은 강변과 산 두 방향에 총 26개 실이 준비되어 있다. 강가에는 2층 규모의 객실 동이 있으며 1층에 나라(참나무), 2층에 카에데(단풍나무), 어라이벌 파빌리온 옆에는 스스키(망루), 부지의 가장 안쪽에는 호타루(반딧불)라는 객실로 구성된다. 자연경관을 최대한 살리면서 일본 여관 특유의 전통적인 색을 남겨두고, 동시에 모던한 아름다움을 곁들여 디자인했다. 나무의 온기를 느낄 수 있는 미니멀한 인테리어는 아름다운 자연광을 가득 받아들이며 더욱 고요하고 아늑한 공간을 만든다. 벽면 창 너머로 펼쳐진 숲과 정원의 경관을 감상하고, 또 모든 객실에 마련된 편백 욕조에 몸을 담그면 잔잔하게 흐르는 시간 속에서 비일상적인 감각을 느낄 수 있을 것이다.
