In Gangneung's old downtown, Okcheon-dong is where the lives of Gangneung citizens intersect with Namdacheon and Wolhwa Street. "MARKERS Hostel" is a place that incorporates the meaning of local travel, visiting various places in the neighborhood, into the word "marker," which signifies marking visited locations on a map. In the dialect of Gangwon Province, "marker" (makka) also means "everyone," aligning the aspirations of the host, who hopes to see this neighborhood bustling once again, with the determination of the brand director who wanted to create a sustainable travel culture that satisfies both travelers and locals. The desire for everyone who visits this place to enjoy their unique, free-spirited local travel experience is deeply embedded here.

"MARKERS" is a transformation of a lodging facility called "Daringjang" established about 30 years ago. Taking inspiration from the representative Zelkova tree of Okcheon-dong, they added exterior colors and retained the rugged yet vintage mood of the stone piles. The first floor lobby is the focal point for local socializing. Sofas and tables create a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy your time alone or with others. From the second floor onwards, private spaces focused on relaxation unfold. The rooms highlight an industrial mood with ironwork and exposed brick, adding vitality through planters. Throughout the first-floor lobby, corridors, and stairs, there are objects and vintage furniture that preserve the essence of the former Daringjang, harmonizing old and new elements to create the unique atmosphere of "MARKERS."
