Just as the rough stones lean against each other, braving the wind, Stay The Um began with pure emotions and long anticipation to meet someone with their own stories. 'Um' means 'a place' in Latin. Stay The Um aims to be a unique and special place where one can truly encounter oneself in a space that resembles them.
Stay The Um is composed of two contrasting white buildings nestled in the quiet village of Woljeong-ri Beach. The single-story detached house, 'hidden,' discreetly occupies the land and features an outdoor space with lush foliage. It is connected to the interior through large windows, providing a sense of openness. The interior is designed with comfortable neutral tones and wooden finishes, aiming to create inner peace. The two-story detached house, 'lofty,' located on a quaint alley, focuses on sensory changes by utilizing interior level differences. Through windows that connect each space with varying heights and the outside, it offers delightful variations. Stay The Um focuses on emptiness to fill it with fulfillment. Enjoy a serene indoor bathtub with a view of stone walls or take a nap on carefully prepared bedding after deep contemplation to relieve the fatigue of daily life. Listen to music of your choice and savor coffee and tea. Embrace the Jeju sunshine and breeze in the independent outdoor space, allowing your emptied inner self to be filled with vibrant colors.
