In downtown Seoul, there is a place that makes you feel as if you have traveled back in time the moment you see the watermill in the yard. This is 'The Chae: Courtyard', which was created by refining an old hanok that had been neglected for a long time and going through a renewal process. These days, when traditional culture feels more unfamiliar than modern Western-style apartments, the host wanted to create a comfortable space where you can feel the quiet atmosphere and analog sensibility of a hanok. A 'courtyard' was added to emphasize the yard with the watermill. You can feel the aesthetics of pause, rest, and slowness by looking at the slowly spinning watermill.
In the foot bath, you can see the watermill by installing a window, and there is a large table and chairs made after the colors and lines of a hanok. You can brew and drink Magpie & Tiger's mugwort tea through a mami sieve made from a traditional method. The sounds of nature, the sky and the scenery of the yard, heard whenever the cool wind blows seem to add depth to the taste of tea. At night, the water wheel and moon lights seen from the Daecheong enhance the romantic atmosphere. How about watching a movie with a beam projector with the atmosphere of a quiet hanok in the background?
A fragrance created in collaboration with Chwi Project and The Chae is provided according to the season. Drop the oil directly on the rice cake diatomaceous earth to actively enjoy the scent.
Magpie & Tiger leaf tea is served as a welcome drink. Enrich your stay with the savory leaf tea experience that can be brewed directly through Mamiche (tea strainer).
Take a foot bath in the footbath overlooking the watermill, and have a time of emptying and healing to release the accumulated stress and toxins.
