Located in a tranquil countryside village in Yangyang, Gangwon Province, 'Usmeer' offers a front-row seat to the gentle sound of waves and the fluttering wings of seagulls. The name 'Usmeer' combines the German word for 'sea,' 'meer,' with the word 'us,' symbolizing a space exclusive to us. Surrounded by many rocks, even seagulls come to rest here. The host designed this place to provide solace from the repetitive routines of life and a moment of respite through the comfort of the sea.
Usmeer's exterior showcases raw textures using brick tiles blended with various materials. The exposed concrete finish of the retaining walls creates a private space. A small courtyard awaits just beyond the entrance, inviting guests to relax while gazing at the sky. Stepping inside, the high ceilings are striking despite the single-story structure. The living room and kitchen feature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea, revealing a breathtaking view. The rooftop terrace, connected to the attic, allows guests to fully experience the sea with a refreshing breeze. Although the overall design pursues modernity, the interior conveys warmth and coziness through suede-like finishes and warm materials.
