Chill Drive-in
why

For those who wish to find the type of rest they are seeking,

The type of rest you desire depends on what you want each moment of your life. Relaxation can take many forms. This is a break to do nothing violently, to enjoy the content in front of you, to do what you could not do due to your daily schedule, and to relax like ice cream melting in the heat. Music has a genre of its own. Upon listening to it, my nervous shoulders relax and my wide-open eyes close, a sensation known as chill. It may be that you simply desire it. Something a little laid back. An excursion that is less crowded, less busy, but not too boring. There is something chill about taking a break, and there is staying in accommodation. The Chill Drive-in at Yangyang National Road 7, Gangwon-do, seems to cover all the genres of rest, from doing nothing or enjoying moderately to doing something, to relax. There is Chill Drive-in on an endless straight road where only a sand-dusting car in a Western U.S. movie is running, adding fun and joy to the phrase "relaxation."

Admiration for Ocean and Leisure

Chill Drive-in is CEO Eun-sung Kim's first business venture, which owns an eyewear brand. Because of the nature of his work, she often traveled abroad on business and liked to stay in hotels, so she founded a chill drive-in based on those experiences. Every summer since childhood, she used to spend a lot of time on the east coast, collecting his favorite things and decorating them nicely. The rest area evokes the exotic mood of California's East Coast Ocean Yangyang, which she often visited as an adult while enjoying surfing. Yangyang holds a special place in one's heart as the hometown of one's heart. The place reflects his love of the sea and leisure activities such as surfing, diving, and golf. Yangyang is always full of excitement, according to him. In order to fulfill his work commitments, she plans to spend four days per week in Seoul and three weekends in Yangyang.

YeoWoonpo with Lingering Memories

In Gangwon Province, Yangyang is a surfing paradise for Koreans. This has been the case for many years and continues to be the case. It is due to the surfers who visit this area during the four seasons of spring, summer, fall, and winter that people who are seeking delicious restaurants and things to do are constantly walking around the area. In Yeounpo-ri, Sonyang-myeon, where Chill Drive-in is located near the sea, there are only about 30 households. You will find a peaceful atmosphere with murals in the village when you go down there. It is located 15 minutes by car from Yangyang International Airport, and has the advantage of being able to easily reach it through various transportation options that can be met immediately after getting off the Hajodae International Airport. Also, if you move slightly out of the peaceful village atmosphere, you can reach the beautiful beaches of Dongho, with exotic sea colors, and Hajodae, with wide sandy beaches and magnificent rocks scattered throughout the sea. Furthermore, it is a place where mountains and the sea are harmoniously intertwined. It will leave a lasting impression on you, much like Yeounpo's name.

MAKING STORY

Surfing was the main focus of Chill Drive-in. Chill Drive-in was planned to be painted to match the concept of surfing by Busan's Anti-Dot Founder, the founder of a surfing shop. The project was launched in spring 2021, during the spread of COVID-19. The original building of Chill Drive-In, which was a rest area for travelers because it was not possible to travel abroad by plane, was as old as 38 rest areas. She was immediately captivated by it as soon as she saw it. It was a very exotic building, with a horizontally long single-story structure, with very open space and a nice view from the second floor. From then on, she made a business plan regarding what to do by signing a contract rather than a project that he had originally planned and initiated. In the event that it does not work out, let's build a house when we are older. From the north to the south, Route 7 runs along the East Sea, connecting Goseong and Busan along a beautiful driving course. Sunrises can also be seen at this location.

It was a very ambitious plan. As in a hotel outside California, she envisioned a swimming pool, a subculture, a skateboard ball park, a food truck zone, and a rooftop bar. The reality, however, was that everything had to be approved. Furthermore, the neighborhood must pay close attention to the noise in order to maintain the tranquility of residents. Furthermore, the area had strong winds, so each installation had to be carefully selected and installed. In lieu of a swimming pool, a pool-style photo zone was created, a skateboarding area was created, and an iconic truck was positioned on one side of the parking lot.#
Surfing was the primary focus of Chill Drive-in. A drive-in was to be painted to match the concept of surfing by Busan's Anti-Dot Founder, the founder of a surfing shop in Yangyang. The project began in the spring of 2021, during the spread of COVID-19. Due to the fact that traveling abroad by plane was banned, people became very thirsty for travel. The numerous ideas that have been witnessed and felt while traveling together were exchanged and gathered to create the mood of Hawaii or California, in the home of surfing.

An image of a service station in a U.S. road movie with a gas station, a restaurant, and a cafe was imagined. You can also see a picture of a parking area in front of it and a place where you can sleep. Those who view and experience this site will have new experiences because people are often inspired by new places and new experiences that are different from what they usually experience. In the same way, Chill Drive-in was born out of the wild idea that sleeping on the first floor in the middle of the road would be a fun experience. It is also said that photos are the only thing left on the trip, regardless of age or gender. It would be good to create an area that I would like to keep as a picture, that is, a spot, for future generations to remember. Therefore, we decided to decorate Chill Drive-in in the style of a photo studio on every corner.#
SPACE

Like an American rest stop, with accommodations, cafes, photo zones, and surf shops

The overall concept of Chill Drive-in is unique, refreshing, and exotic. Chill Drive-in is a place for complete rest, such as a shade under the hot sun. The concept is designed as minimally as possible with a natural tone, so that you can relax while listening to it. It is important to sleep well, so the focus is on maintaining a clean, cosy, and quiet environment. Located on the first floor with a scent reminiscent of the host's American scent, fresh wind, and clean linen dried under warm sunlight, the accommodations are 701 to 705 with a chilling aura. Rooms 701 and 702 have small terraces overlooking a lake. This building stands out due to its yellow grating railings, which evoke the warm climate of the western United States. Each room has a slightly different composition. However, room 701 has a sofa, while room 702 is suitable for clean use due to the separation of the sink, bathtub, and bathroom. There are two super single beds in room 703, which is ideal for travelers who prefer a comfortable night's sleep. There is a lovely small window in room 704 which makes it a very cozy room for a good night's sleep. It is the only room at Chill Drive-in that can accommodate three people, as it has both a king-size bed and a super single bed side by side. In order to make the room more convenient, a washbasin has been placed in it. It is also attractive to have a long window above the back of the bed. Matthew Allen and Ty Williams have contributed works to all of the rooms and corridors. At the Chill Drive-in Cafe, you can also view the works of these two artists. Is there any interior that is as beautiful as a picture? Creating a hip gallery atmosphere, the painting blends seamlessly into the entire space.

While most surfing shops are located on the beach, the Secret Sports Surf Club (SSSC) is located in Chill Drive-In. The cafe's broken wall can also be used as an entrance. The shop also sells longboards and shortboards, but it specializes in sponge surfboards that are able to catch waves well. The exhibition also includes perfume items from Chill Drive-in, SSSC's original clothing, and clothes and accessories of the "Chill Sports Club," which are derived from Chill Drive-in and made according to the concept of surf and golf.
Additionally, the Chill Drive-in Cafe serves as the front desk for the entire facility. As a welcome gift, guests are provided with drinks from the cafe. With bold checkerboards and cute items owned by Chill Drive-in's crew, this space adds a sense of fun to the restaurant. There are two floors to the cafe, and the rooftop is definitely the favorite spot for those staying. There is also an interesting photo zone at the swimming pool. As a symbol of Chill Drive-in, the center has a tennis court and a large sign that resembles a colorful Las Vegas sign. If you take a picture of the yellow on the side of the building, it looks very pleasing to the eye. This is the testimony of the crew. Most recently, a very hip gas station, a Chill gas station, has been completed.
INTERVIEW

stayfolio
Chill Drive-in
Could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Eun-sung Kim, and I am the owner of an eyewear brand. Previously, I dealt only with products, but I began doing space business for the first time in my career. I often travel for business abroad and enjoy traveling, so I had to stay in hotels a lot, so based on those experiences, I started a Chill Drive-in. In my mind, I have always imagined gathering all the things I like and decorating them in a creative manner. Growing up, I spent a lot of time on the east coast every summer. Since I was an adult, I used to come down every weekend to surf in Yangyang, so it has become my home away from home. As a lover of the sea and of leisure activities such as surfing, diving, and golf, I am attracted to Yangyang. Yangyang seems to be filled with a sense of excitement. Due to my work commitments in Seoul, I will be spending four days in Seoul and three days in Yangyang for weekend tickets.
I would like to know what the name Chill Drive-in means.
Due to its location on the side of the road, cars and bicycles can easily come and go. In English, the word chill refers to a cool and restful environment. It is not the Seven Drive-In. It's a Chill Drive-in.
Could you please let me know what the Chill Drive-in plan is all about?
Surfing was the main focus of Chill Drive-in. An SSSC was run by Busan's Anti-dot Founder, the founder of a surfing shop, to plan a Chill Drive-in. When COVID-19 was in full swing in the spring of 2021, the project was initiated. Because I could not fly at the time, I had a thirst for foreign things, but I think we gathered these ideas and other experiences we had while traveling together to create a Hawaii or California mood, the home of surfing.
In the U.S., you can find rest stops, restaurants, and cafes like those in Road Movie, and I thought it would be nice if I could park in front and sleep there. Generally, I am inspired by new experiences in a new environment, which is different from what I am used to. A strange thought created the idea of staying on the first floor in the middle of the road.
It has been said that pictures are all that remain of a trip. In order to make Chill Drive-in a memorable place for all who come, I decorated all the locations as a photo studio.
Please describe the location characteristics and geographical conditions of Sonyang-myeon, Yangyang-gun.
The village of Yeounpo-ri, Sonyang-myeon, consists of just over thirty households. It is a tranquil atmosphere that is harmonized with the mural when you walk down to the village. You can meet at Hajodae International Airport right away, and Dongho Beach and Hajodae Beach are nearby. The mountains and the sea harmonize, and Yangyang International Airport is just a short distance away. I find the name Yeowoonpo particularly appealing.
It is my understanding that the rest area at the airport on Route 7 between Goseong and Busan has been renovated.
It was as old as the 38 rest area, but I immediately fell in love with it. Additionally, the spacious single-story building was very exotic, and I enjoyed the open space and the cool view from the second floor. While it is not the project I originally planned, I made a business plan for what I would do after signing the contract. In the event that the plan does not work out, I will have to build a house when I am older.
In addition to running from the northernmost to the southernmost part of Korea along the East Sea, Route 7 is also a very scenic driving route connecting Goseong and Busan. Sunrises can also be seen here.
During the renewal process, please let me know if there are any changes to the planned design.
Initially, the plan was very big. I envisioned a swimming pool, a skateboard ball park, a food truck zone, and a rooftop bar, but in reality, everything needed to be approved. It was a small town that should not be too noisy, and you had to take care of every installation because of the strong wind. Thus, we created a pool photo zone, and a skateboarding area, and replaced the romantic plan with an iconic truck.
Could you please explain the space?
The overall concept of Chill Drive-In is refreshing, unique, and exotic, but Chill Drive-in appears to be a shadowy place under the hot sun. The design is minimal, with a natural tone, and the concept of a surf shake allows you to relax comfortably. Having a clean, cozy, and quiet bedroom was important to me in order to get a good night's sleep. During the creation of the scent of Chill Drive-in, I gave the fragrance to the fresh wind and warm sunlight, which remind me of soft and clean linen. That is exactly how I perceive America to smell.
All accommodations are located on the first floor, but we chose the lake view from 701 to 705 with the meaning "chill out".
In 701 and 702, there are small terraces. The yellow grating railing is very attractive. The composition of each room varies, but room 701 has a sofa. There is a washbasin, a bathtub, and a bathroom separated by a dry area in room 702, which makes it convenient to use neatly.
Room 703 is equipped with two super single beds, so I think it would be a good choice for those who prefer to sleep separately. A beautiful small window can be found in room 704. You can sleep well in this cozy room. A king-sized bed and a super single bed are provided in Room 705 for three people. There is a washbasin in the room, separated from the bathroom for convenience, and there is a long window over the bed that makes the room attractive. Matthew Allen and Ty Williams' works were displayed throughout the rooms and corridors. Chill Drive-in Cafe also displays the works of the two artists. The picture of the interior is the best I have seen. In order to achieve this effect, I wanted the room to feel like a gallery where the paintings naturally blend into the surroundings.
The Secret Sports Surf Club (SSSC) is hidden in Chill Drive-in, while most surfing shops are located on the beach. There is also access to the entrance through the broken walls of the cafe. In the shop, there are also long boards and short boards, but we specialize in sponge boards made by Catchsurf that catch waves well. Additionally, we offer Chill Drive-in's Perfumery items, SSSC's original clothing, and Chill Sports Club's clothing and accessories that are derived from Chill Drive-in and made with a surf and golf theme.
The Chill Drive-in Cafe also serves as the front desk for the entire Chill Drive-in. In addition to providing drinks at the cafe, it is a welcome drink for guests. As well as the bold checkerboard, we added fun items that our crew owns. In my opinion, the guests' favorite part of the cafe is the rooftop, which is located on the 1st and 2nd floors. It is also interesting to take photographs in the swimming pool photo zone. An image of a tennis court and a Chill Drive-in symbol appears in the center of the sign. The idea of putting up fancy signs in Las Vegas appealed to me. In keeping with this idea, the neon sign on the outer truck of the cafe was also designed in this manner. There is something photogenic about them. It is very pretty if you take a photograph of the yellow wall on the side of the building. Chill gas Station is the most recent photo zone to be completed. It was my intention to create a hip gas station. The mood is American vintage. Nowadays, many people take pictures here as well.
I would appreciate it if you would let me know if there is anything you want guests to experience without missing.
You can enjoy a beautiful sunset from the rooftop. Chillax will be an enjoyable experience for you. Yangyang is always unattractive in spring, summer, fall, and winter, but on autumn nights, it is likely to be filled with stars. This year, I went to Mauna Kea, Hawaii's Big Island, to see stars, and they were not much different from those in Chill Drive-in.

Local Restaurant

Singlefin Aleworks

You should visit this restaurant if you are looking for Chicago pizza. A favorite among Yangyang's surfers, the restaurant has long maintained its position as Yangyang's stronghold. You will have to wait if you find it at mealtime, as it is still very popular. Is there anything better than a delicious ale beer and pizza? Additionally, the exotic atmosphere of the space is very pleasant.

Sigol Poongyeong

Following the country road will lead you to a restaurant surrounded by a rural landscape. There are three types of mushrooms available here: pine mushroom beef hot pot, Neungi beef hot pot, and Neungi beef hot pot. The president himself prepares a side dish of Gangwon-do's food ingredients. It is a hearty flavor that makes one's thumb tickle frequently. If you make a reservation in advance, you can also taste Braised Spicy Chicken.

Local Cafe

Cafe Log

The cafe is part of the Korea Certified Textbook Association's training center, but it is open to the public. With its high floor height and forest view outside the window, the Book Cafe is a place where you can enjoy a long period of peace. A green forest surrounds you as you choose a book you wish to read, drink coffee, and take a break.

Cafe 7

Located on the first floor, the second floor, and the roof, it consists of seven drive-ins. The cafe exudes the mood of Yangyang, a paradise for surfers, and if you purchase drinks, you can use all the space that is a photo zone wherever you look. It does not matter what the weather is like, there is always an atmosphere of its own. Take a look around the surfing shop adjacent to the cafe on the first floor.

STAY

A wish and a word of praise, exotic

There is a lot of meaning to the word exotic. People in Korea are said to express praise or rave reviews while discussing the opposite situation. While looking at a picture, it appears to be a picture, it is not like Korea in a particular location within our country, it is like a foreign country, it is exotic, etc. It is both a wind and a compliment to use the word exotic. An expression of praise that implies escape and adventure.

It has a completely different atmosphere, mood, and exotic feel than your country. It is common in Korea to create spaces containing foreign emotions as if to quench the thirst for travel, but there are fewer spaces in which to use "jjin" as a modifier today. In spite of this, Chill Drive-in is well aware of the sentiment behind its name. From the building to the rest area in the U.S. road movie, it looks like a rest area, including a sleeping area, a cafe, a surfing shop, a nice photo zone gas station, a rooftop, and an iconic truck that reflects the day's sensibility. While you are here, you will have the opportunity to explore a variety of experiences, which will allow you to relax and have a fun-filled vacation. When you book a stay and arrive, there is nothing to do but hang around the room and garden thinking about what to do.
4 POINT OF VIEW

ORIGINALITY

A deep sense of America

There is a tendency for countries around the world to become similar. During this era, it is easy to follow social networking sites when something is popular. A person can pretend to be such a place, but becoming such a place is a matter of choice, gaze, perspective, and conviction. All the small and detailed details reveal the atmosphere of the United States. Yangyang's exotic weather and the sea are the main reasons to visit this location. Isn't this enough?

DESIGN

In the photo zone, there is no boredom

Regardless of where you sit, where you walk, or where you stand, it is a design that leads to travel records. You might think that you are in an American film when you observe the light and lively second-floor tennis courts, picnic tables, swimming pool photo zones, gas stations, trucks, and rooftop signboards next to the building. At a glance, the concept is clear. Design that is simple and clear without pretending to be complicated. When you sit on the terrace, you are reminded of the desert of the movie Baghdad Cafe as the floor tiles of Stay evoke a small bungalow next to a sandy beach. There are many scenes that are paired up, and there is no boredom because there is no need to find something to do.

Hospitality

Daily life is characterized by a dampness

It is possible to escape the compulsion. The experiences described can be followed. A space of kind guidance is urgently needed for modern people who live in a world of choices at every moment. Having just stepped in, the boredom of my daily life has disappeared. There is a bright vibe that permeates the entire space. Rainy season moisture has long since dried up and disappeared like surfers' healthy, tanned skin that enjoys surfing under the sun.

PRICE

This is another genre of rest

"What kind of rest would you like? How about this rest? "There are many things to rest and not worry about in this era." This place presents a different type of relaxation, which seems to have moved the entire paradise of American surfers, or somewhere in Western movies, with its kind face, expression, and gesture. It is not necessary to be complicated and worry. Let us follow the guide with our fingers, that is, the sun in space. Whether it be new or familiar, it is time to experience one of the genres of relaxation you want.
