whyMangrove, The Most Pleasant Symbiosis
Mangrove trees are unique homes that nurture a diverse range of life forms. Thriving in tropical regions, they extend their roots above the water surface to create a net-like shelter for various creatures, from the roots to the branches. They play a vital role in protecting coastlines from waves and storing carbon, contributing to a healthy natural environment.
Mangrove, a Co-Living brand, recognizes the value of these trees and strives to create spaces in urban forests that promote a symbiotic relationship among its residents. Inspired by its namesake, Mangrove fosters a creative and altruistic mindset, allowing individuals to explore their unique tastes and express their individuality. Their spaces feature customizable rooms, public areas for physical and mental wellness, and workspaces that cater to creators.
Mangrove continuously seeks to promote healthy lifestyles and social programs that encourage positive synergies among its members, including events like yoga and flogging gatherings. By deeply listening to the needs of its residents, Mangrove creates a friendly and supportive community that cultivates a sense of belonging.
In partnership with Stayfolio, Mangrove offers stays that showcase the benefits of Co-Living. These stays provide a glimpse of Mangrove's pleasant living environment, community, and convenient facilities, along with romantic local maps and lifestyle content that can turn everyday life into an adventure. The city's night edition room, developed in collaboration with Stayfolio, and KUA's edition room, led by space planner Lee Kwang-ho, offer unique and immersive experiences for guests.
peopleExploring Life with a Trusty Companion
Mangrove is a unique community that aims to provide a healthy living environment for diverse individuals to harmonize together, much like Mangrove trees. The team behind Mangrove is committed to designing and operating multi-layered Co-Living Houses with a considerate approach towards both people and space, ensuring that everyone can find "selfishness" in their Co-Living Life. Mangrove's residents are encouraged to be "Urban Explorers" who respect the world around them and seek out new experiences to broaden their horizons. With a focus on nature, eco-friendliness, health, and understanding, Mangrove offers more than just a place to stay - it provides a life-changing experience.
Based on this unique brand identity, Mangrove transforms its spaces to cater to various lifestyles in different regions, such as Sinchon, Dongdaemun, New Town, and Sungin. For instance, Sungin is a cozy Co-Living House that accommodates 24th generation neighbors living together, while the new house boasts a wide range of public spaces as the largest branch. Similarly, Dongdaemun offers a traveler-like experience, while the newly opened Sinchon branch, a 16-story building designed with Co-Living Life in mind, seamlessly integrates housing and retail to maximize convenience. Furthermore, Mangrove Goseong, which opened in March this year, caters to the trend of remote and telecommuting with its "Work & Stay" concept.

Mangrove has established its presence in numerous locations, each offering a unique and authentic experience of the local charm. Among these locations, the newly opened branch stands out for its cozy and serene neighborhood atmosphere by the stream. Despite being a "newly built neighborhood," it retains the historical traces of the place name, creating a fascinating contrast with the seemingly quiet street scenery.
Sinseol-dong, in particular, aligns perfectly with Mangrove's vision of providing a true "home" for its residents. It exudes a distinct neighborhood vibe and boasts essential amenities and transportation facilities, enabling a natural and comfortable daily life. The area also features several special spots that can make one's stay feel like a memorable trip, such as the Dongmyo Traditional Market where vintage products from various eras are on display, Bomuncheon Stream which is perfect for walks and exercise, and the picturesque small parks and landscaping along the stream. The close proximity of these various attractions creates a dynamic and fulfilling experience for Mangrove's residents.
The new Mangrove branch is a unique renovation project that transforms a former business hotel into a state-of-the-art Co-Living House. The collaboration with renowned artist Lee Kwang-ho has resulted in a creatively designed interior that reflects an artistic sensibility. The original hotel floor plan had minimal facilities for short-term stays, which was restructured to maximize utilization of the limited space available. Customized furniture was also designed to fit the size and purpose of each space to enhance efficiency.
One of the standout features of this branch is its public space. Various spaces have been thoughtfully implemented to balance "individual life" and "community living" within the same area. Facilities that reflect daily life patterns were meticulously designed to improve user experience, such as kitchens of varying sizes and designs on different floors and workspaces divided into white noise and focus zones to cater to diverse needs. The Mangrove team strives to constantly improve the environment for their residents, with ongoing changes to signage, public spaces, and even new construction projects. Therefore, the spatial planning of the new Mangrove remains a work in progress as they strive to continuously enhance the living experience of their residents.

SPACEExperience a Forest Trip in Mangrove
As you walk just a few steps from Sinseol-dong Station, the exterior of the new Mangrove building catches your eye with its sleek and sophisticated design. As you enter through the straight window and admire the sensuous colors and patterns, you're greeted by a cheerful atmosphere at SorryNotSorry, a cafe ran by Mangrove. After riding the elevator to the Welcome Lounge, you'll notice the brand's unique design details, such as the carpets and logos. The lounge offers a cool view that takes advantage of the rare high-rise location in Sinseol-dong, and a wide terrace provides space for outdoor activities such as yoga. Once you've checked in, you'll head to your room, which offers a refreshing and pleasant view.
One of the stay options at the new Mangrove is the "City Night" room, which was designed in collaboration with Stayfolio. As the name suggests, it features a quiet and refined interior that encourages reflection while taking in the nighttime city view. You can enjoy the scent of nature, curated music for a comfortable stay, and writing instruments for peaceful reflection. On the other hand, the "KUA Edition Room," designed by artist Lee Kwang-ho, has a cheerful and vibrant atmosphere that reflects the artist's unique style. It features atypical shelves, pendant lights with woven fabrics, and various metal objects that showcase the artist's identity.
As a Mangrove member, you can experience the space in three dimensions, just like a traveler. Mangrove Sinseol
The name "Mangrove" is distinctive and holds significance. Could you explain about the brand?
It is inspired by the mangrove trees that grow along tropical coastlines, serving as homes for a diverse range of plants and animals. In a similar way, Mangrove seeks to create a unique and vibrant community within the urban center, much like how the mangrove tree provides a sanctuary for various creatures.
What is Mangrove's objective in pursuing Co-Living?
Mangrove aims to be a Co-Living House that fosters healthy interactions among its diverse members and allows them to discover their true selves. The brand seeks to create a space where people can experience personal growth and meaningful connections under one roof. It is hoped that Mangrove will become known as a place that facilitates special moments in people's lives. In the same way that "Googling" has become synonymous with using the Google search engine, it is hoped that the phrase "living in Mangrove" will become a common expression for those who call it home.
Who is the target demographic for Mangrove?
The customer base of Mangroves is highly diverse, with college students starting their first independence and beginners in society being the most representative. They often lack experience in finding a house in person, which makes it challenging for them to sign a real estate contract. Additionally, the initial cost of purchasing furniture or appliances can be burdensome for them. They are particularly interested in a flexible housing type with a short contract period and a convenient location, given the significant life changes that come with graduation, employment, and turnover. Mangroves, which offer short-term living arrangements and provide the basic necessities for living, are an ideal housing alternative in this regard. Similarly, foreign students, freelancers, and regular office workers are also interested in Mangroves.
How are the residential rooms and short-term guest rooms arranged?
The residential rooms at Mangrove are intended for stays ranging from one month to one year, and feature built-in furniture that combines beds and cabinets for efficient use of space tailored to personal preferences. Conversely, the short-term guest rooms are designed for travelers exploring the Co-Living House and the city, featuring cleverly designed furniture for a unique and enjoyable stay. For a more immersive Co-Living experience, we recommend the Stay Single, Stay Twin Deluxe, and Stay Twin Bunk rooms designed for longer stays.
The utilization of brand identity in diverse public spaces is remarkable.
Mangrove presents a unique lifestyle experience by offering top-notch living amenities. The living facilities, kitchen, and run-down room are arranged vertically, considering the structure's characteristics. The Members' Lounge provides various configurations, such as co-working, library, flex, relaxation, cinema, and creators' rooms. It's a perfect blend of cultural and personal work life, with the library regularly updated and managed with new curation every quarter, accessible 24/7. The creators' room comes equipped for filming and recording, while the relaxation room features mirrors and multimedia devices for activities like yoga and dancing. Mangrove is also open for those seeking accommodation.
I have been informed that Experience Maps, BooMix lists, and Mangrove Social Club (MSC) guides are available.
Mangrove offers guests an experience kit, consisting of Experience Maps, BooMix lists, and Mangrove Social Club (MSC) guides. The "Urban Explorer" persona given to Mangrove Stay customers encourages them to explore not only the building but also the surrounding area. As a result, staying at Mangrove is not limited to the physical space but extends to the co-living lifestyle as a whole.
The Experience Maps are designed to narrate interesting local stories based on real experiences shared by Mangrove managers. From a local perspective, guests can learn about the kind flower shop owner, unique restaurant menus, and scenic walking routes. Additionally, BooMix is Mangrove's cultural curation list, featuring a selection of books and music to enrich guests' stays. QR codes allow guests to listen to music, and the library provides a collection of books for them to read.
What is Mangrove Social Club (MSC)?
Mangrove is establishing a social club with unique goals and standards to provide diverse cultural experiences to Co-Living residents. The social club operates under four themes: Mindfulness, Daybreak, Inspiration, and Changemaker, with the aim of promoting healthy daily habits and personal growth among members. The club provides a platform for residents to naturally and easily interact with neighbors who share similar interests and tastes.
Mangrove members are also given the opportunity to host their own communities within the social club. As the host, members can propose meetings and manage the community themselves. Mangrove managers offer support by providing necessary resources for community events hosted by members. The club encourages participation from all members.
Would you share any memorable Mangrove Social Club (MSC) activities?
I have personally tried beer yoga before. We gather in front of the welcome lounge, leaving the space empty, with a beer in hand and proceed to do yoga. Participants included both STAY residents and new acquaintances, and it was a memorable experience to see everyone comfortably enjoying themselves. This program served as a great way to unwind and communicate with an open mind.
Another activity that was highly popular was the film camera workshop. It involved a walk-and-talk session about film cameras, taking photos with the cameras, and experiencing the printing process together. Due to the many people at Mangrove with similar interests and sensitivities, the workshop created an active and engaging atmosphere. Additionally, running crew, gardening experience, and pillar dance are also popular and regular events organized by the Mangrove Social Club.
STAYHere, I Transform Into Another Version of Myself
Staying in a vibrant and healthy environment, one can experience the rejuvenation of both body and mind. It goes beyond mere recovery as it allows for the discovery of personal tastes and cultural enjoyment that are often neglected in the hectic pace of daily life. Moreover, being surrounded by like-minded individuals with a shared goal of personal growth, positive motivation is gained. Mangrove, where a single tree creates an ecosystem like that of a vast forest, provides a nurturing space for life to thrive. In the shade of this protective haven, one can also grow and become a generous tree.

A Vibrant Design
Upon arrival, I gaze around the space and feel as if I've entered a sprawling village of 20 stories. The atmosphere of the casual and well-lit space captivates me with its vivid colors, striking materials, and eye-catching designs. Once I've thoroughly explored the space, I'm eager to venture out and discover the surrounding area, armed with a local map in hand.

A Mind Conscious of Nature
I visited the Mangrove store on the 4th floor and discovered a display stand showcasing branded merchandise and amenities. Mangrove strives to be eco-conscious and produce zero waste. The small yet resourceful space offers upcycled curtains made from paragliding waste tents, biodegradable slippers, bamboo toothbrushes, and tissues.

The selection of books curated by Mangrove showcases their attention to detail. The collection features works related to work, lifestyle, health, classic literature, and much more. You can peruse a cookbook, read a travel memoir, or revisit a childhood fairy tale.

With the delightful touch pen provided in the "City Night" room, I wrote in my diary for the first time in ages.
