Pyeongdae-ri is a beautiful and pristine village with a small beach of clear water, old houses and cute little shops clustered together. Two white houses on the old carrot farm that the small hill of the village is embracing became Bengdi 1967. Bengdi 1967 is the combination of Pyeongdae-ri’s old name “Bengdi,” meaning a large field where rocks and weeds grow, and the address “1967.”
“Once you enter Bengdi 1967, Jeju stone walls and trees will surround you, letting you have undisturbed time of your own. All furniture is made with solid or old wood, bringing the warmth of the nature into the house. The kitchen is designed with an open structure so you can face the living room even when cooking. Soft vintage light has a warm orange glow that encourages relaxing rest and long conversation. Dong-dong, which opened recently, is a sophisticated place that offers a different landscape and light that is different from Seo-dong. Sequence of diverse spaces flows with the long hall in the center in Dong-dong, and spaces are organically connected under the tall ceiling in Seo-dong. These two similar yet distinctively different places make a unique space experience.
I’d like to encourage the visitors to take their time and slowly relish and appreciate the house, looking out the window once more, feeling the lights and shadow dancing in the breeze, listening to the music, having a conversation and catching your thoughts in a bathtub. Bengdi 1967, offering unique and sentimental stay, will be the ultimate place that will present you the true healing time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
