A Place to be Carefree and Idle Away
Yangyang is a relatively smaller than Sokcho or Gangneung in Gangwon Province, but with surfers flocking to the local beach and smaller sized yet unique shops lining up along the neighborhood streets, distinct local culture and vibes are flourishing. By the popular surfing spots, Jukdo Beach and Ingu Beach, a surfers’ hideout, Yangyang Breathe Hotel is wide open now. As if taking a deep breathe, Yangyang Breathe Hotel pursues to offer a space for guests to have a breather to retrieve peace of mind.

Unlike other accommodations in the area, the place seeks to work closely with professionals and experts to offer contents and experience themed around community engagement and sustainability. The lobby and outdoor plaza, for instance, are designed for local residents and guests to mingle in friendly atmosphere. In parallel, the host has paid careful attention to every detail to ensure convenience for guests throughout their stay. Upon arrival, guests may check in and out at the kiosk. And on the second floor of the building, private spa shops and sauna are open exclusively for guests to quietly shed stress and fatigue. Quite fascinatingly, each of guest room is designed with different ideas so that guests may choose by their purpose of their stay. The guestrooms are serving guests with largely four different room types – “Laid Back,” themed around retreats with natural and earth color palettes, “Rise Up,” with inspiration from surf culture, “Mindfulness,” a capsule type room for a single person, and the Penthouse of the top floor. All guestrooms have manuals to instruct how to meditate and tea wares that guest may spare their time for mindfulness.

Opening southeastward, Yangyang Breathe Hotel invites its guests to enjoy the beautiful sunrise of East Sea at the comfort of their guestrooms. In parallel, to guide guests into blending with local culture and lifestyle, the hotel miniminzed in-house stores or restaurants. Instead, the hotel chose to work closely with local businesses to fill the facility with locality so that guests may explore surf culture and local culture. A local surf and lifestyle shop, “Surf Code” and a local café and pub, “Poipu Surf” are open on the first floor of the hotel, opening a ground to build a platform for offering lifestyle contents. For those in search of a space to be laid back and soaked up in the local culture, Yangyang Breathe Hotel will surely be one of the first picks.
