Epilogue to the New Beginning
The movie Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda, is the portrayal of Ryuichi Sakamoto, who wears a bucket on his head and summons all his senses to fully concentrate on the sound of the rain. Inspired by his actions, Coda in Hallim-eup in Jeju Island allows you to meet nature as it is. To make the flexible space, rather than a rigid one, the host placed versatile furniture that fits well everywhere in the house and therefore can be moved. It’s a discovery of the new senses of Coda’s space.

Coda is one of the two stone houses facing south in an L shape. It’s about 63 m² featuring mid-century furniture and fabric to add a soft feeling to the space. The host didn’t fill the space intentionally so the warmth of the guests can create a different atmosphere each time. Coda provides spots that allow you to spend time contemplating or emptying your thoughts. You can blankly look at the garden from the wooden porch or have a chat at the small table and stools, take a warm bath at the bathtub. All these things will take you to the world of deep thinking so you can meet yourself on another level.

Coda is a specific place for the host to realize his literary and artistic space. In music, the Coda is “a concluding section typically at the end of a sonata movement that is based on extensions or re-elaboration of thematic material previously heard.” Coda genuinely brings to ultimate rest and supports you to have a new and fresh beginning to move forward.
