Wholly Embracing the Nature of Jeju
As one opens the front door to enter the building, the scent of cypress spreads through the air. Jeju Crobe is a log house built through a special process that maintains the top wood quality by harvesting cypresses that are over 30 years old to be put through dry aging for 30 days. Crobe, which means 'black land', wanted to show the qualities Jeju inside and outside the building. To externally express the exclusive properties of the volcanic island, such as black pigs, black rocks, and divers in black suits, its stone walls, and trees painted in black. On the contrary, to depict the warmth of Jeju people, the interior was designed to bring out the natural feelings of wood.

Composed of two units, Sanbang and Halla, each of them serves as independent spaces with the same structure. There a total of three bedrooms for each unit. The furniture in the kitchen is handmade with hardwood to retain the original texture of wood. By placing a solid mattress in the bedroom on the first floor, the interior considers for guests who want to thoroughly rest their waist. The tatami room offers comfort by combining high ceilings, its distinctive aromas, and exterior landscaping. The attic and the living room on the second floor with their low ceilings this time arouse a cozy atmosphere, providing an unfamiliar experience for children. Moreover, an open-air Hinoki bathtub with a temperature-maintaining device is also situated so that guests can enjoy a have spring bath for a long time.

Jeju is geographically wet. Hence, people often face problems of having too many mosquito and mold. In such conditions, cypress naturally regulates humidity and emits a fragrance that drives mosquitoes away, forming a comfortable living environment. Feel free to open the windows at Crobe and indulge in the cypress. The garden, decorated with mandarin trees and other Jeju plants, just makes it better to enjoy bathing in the Hinoki bathtub. In the attic on the second floor, guests can sit on the sofa to watch the stars of Jeju sky pouring down on them at night. It would also be a unique fun to find hidden locations carefully laid out in the house. Visit Jeju Crobe, the quiet and cozy space for everyone.
