De Hostel is located in Zhutian, a small town in Pingtung County, Taiwan, far from the hustle and bustle of the city and retaining the simple rustic ambience of Taiwan's past. De Hostel is located across from the Zhutian Station, which used to be the area of the De Xing Rice Mill built during the Japanese colonial era, with a history spanning 80 years. Since the family was the operator of the rice mill, the owner of De Hostel grew up around the rice mill, and could not bear to see the old mill becoming more and more decrepit. With the vision of giving back to the hometown, the owner revamped the old warehouse, and incorporated design elements and local stories, making it the first legal B&B in Zhutian.

An architectural design firm was commissioned to redesign the old building. The ochre-red exterior wall uses the "square opening" embedded in the barn as a conceptual element, and is designed with a variety of large and small square windows, which are very special and eye-catching, with good ventilation and light. The first floor has an open garden, a pond and a glass hall, and the second and third floors have three different room types: a backpacker dormitory, a Japanese tatami room for two and a family room. Booking the whole hostel for exclusive use is also available. This hostel is suitable for individual travelers and families who want to get to know the local cultural and humanistic highlights of Zhutian.

Breakfast is prepared by the hostel owner, using fresh ingredients from the property to make delicious tacos, and guests are welcome to order additional Hakka-style dinners from neighboring restaurants. In addition, the hostel offers bicycle and electric scooter rental services, allowing visitors to enjoy the lush green landscape of Zhutian Township at their leisure. In the future, the hostel will also cooperate with local artists to hold exhibitions and other activities from time to time.
