Tempting Jeju Lifestyle
Dwell Jeju is a space holding the story of a family who moved to Jeju Island for a slow pace life. As American poet Emily Dickinson said, “I dwell in possibility,” the architect couple created this space to live their lives in Jeju to test the possibility. Dwell Jeju is located in Jungsangan Mureung-ri in Jeju. It’s a beautiful village where the ecosystem is kept intact, adjacent to Gotjawal Forest, called the “Lungs of Jeju.”

Two units of the house, renovated from an old house and storage unit, were made with an open-plan structure. They are simple yet stylish. The open kitchen and a big table is in the center of the house, and a large bathroom offers a Jacuzzi bath where visitors can rest looking at the beautiful landscape. You can also cook and eat in the outdoor kitchen. A separate house was renovated into a small living space from a run-down storage unit. It consists of a small bar, bedroom and a tea room with an open view of nature.

The original structure of the ceiling and wall is what fascinated the couple the most when they first saw the house. Their goal was to preserve the time-endured texture and familiar feeling of the old material while making the most functional place possible. I hope you can see the possibility of happy life by staying in their daily life where two children and their parents grow in the slow-paced nature.
