Where to Take a Step Away from Everday Lives to Find Comfort
We all can communicate with anyone these days – even with those who are far away - thanks to technology. However, extending hospitality to others still remains one of the most important ways we interact with each other. Korea has a continued tradition of offering hospitality to the guests at the Sarangchae, the guest room of the house. On the extent of such tradition and legacy, “Hanok Essay Seochon”, a traditional Korean housing reinterpreted as “a guest room for ‘me’ time” is standing down the Seochon area away from the bustling city.

As you walk along the wall designed to blend in with the other houses in the area and enter the wooden gate, you will find an elegant traditional Korean yard with a crape myrtle tree. And when you walk further down the yard and open the full-height glass window, you will find a furnace, and a lounge where you can enjoy music with coffee, followed by a large bed and bathtub. There is a large full-height window facing south along the bathtub that opens to the yard with the crape myrtle tree again. Just like essays that maintain freestyle for better expression and illustration, Hanok Essay Seochon does not feature a kitchen, television, or desk. Instead, the place has a king-sized bed, bathtub, a small yard, and a lounge prepared for you to take a break from daily life.

While you are staying you may relax on the lounge chair and grab a book you want to read with some music on. However, the charm of Hanok Essay Seochon is that you can listen to the sound of footsteps, children playing outside, the breeze, and other sounds of nature coming from the alley. And sunlight hits the super king-sized bed through the window. Fresh air would instantly fill the entire Korean traditional housing as you open the large full-height window while you run the bath for a foot soak, as the yard, bathtub, and the lounge are all connected. When you leave all doors closed after letting fresh air in, it is only tranquility that remains. Then the withdrawal into the self begins. The host hopes that the hospitality and comfort of this place would help you let go of all disturbing thoughts emerging from the lights, sound, anxiety, and competition of city life and focus on yourself in tranquility.
