Onsen surrounded by Traditional Tochigi folk crafts and Beautiful Nature
Kai Kinugawa is situated on a hill overlooking Kinugawa Valley in Tochi Prefecture, approximately 200 kilometers north of Tokyo. Featuring a garden where you can fully enjoy the scenery of the four seasons, such as green nature and autumn leaves, which demonstrates the warmth of Tochigi folk art.

The resort has a total of 48 rooms that can accommodate up to three people. The guest rooms are modernly designed with folk crafts such as pottery Mashikoyaki, and dyed cloth. Each of the rooms features a balcony overlooking the forest. Amenities in all the rooms are created by the Kai brand itself. Let's change right into Samue (The everyday work garment worn by a Japanese Buddhist monk) as soon as you enter the room and kick off Kai's trip with a welcome drink.

Kai's hot spring was designed to fully embrace the four seasons of Kinugawa. Both indoor baths with large windows and open-air baths made of Towada stone embodying the natural elements let you experience the feeling of being in harmony with nature. It is recommended to dine at the restaurant where dishes are presented in beautiful pottery from Masikoyaki. You can see unique Mamejara bowls across Japan at the Mamejara Plate Gallery if you want to further explore ceramics or bowls. In addition, if time allows, you can visit the Travel Library at the resort where you may enjoy reading about local history, culture, and natural crafts.
