A vacation with art, healing, and hot springs
Kanagawa Prefecture, located about 88 kilometers south of Tokyo, is famous for being a place where many people have built villas, art galleries, and museums. KAI Sengokuhara was constructed with an Atelier concept in mind, with its surrounding environment intentionally designed to stimulate creative thinking. An ideal resort for those who wish to enjoy the perks of both hot springs and art.

All guest rooms have open-air baths facing the majestic nature. Each room features a very special piece of art painted by the artist who actually occupied the space. In particular, the spaces are designed in a modern yet simple way, allowing the artworks to really stand out. In addition, the resting area overlooks the beautiful scenery of the four seasons along with the hanging artworks on the wall. Let's spend a relaxing time soaking in the open-air bath in the room boasting magnificent nature and being healed by the sounds of pure nature.

The bathkeeper explains Kai's bathing technique and the history of the hot spring before bathing. In addition to a private open-air bath, let's move on to a large bath with a set of hot spring tools so that you may relax and enjoy the hot spring while viewing the gardens through the window. As it is a resort rich in art, you will also find pretty and soul-filling dishes. We invite you to enjoy a Kaiseki course meal that is pleasing to both the eye and the palate. Kai Sengokuhara has a “handkerchief art” experience, where you can articulate the art you want to express in the atelier library. Also, consider visiting Sengokuhara's art museums and natural parks using your inn as a base. On the last day, be sure to stop by the souvenir shop to see great art pieces made by local artists.
