‘Lowjeju’, the rental house made of stone is located about 30 minutes east of Jeju Airport. It is in front of the beach next to a small port town called Beollang which got its name from the white waves hitting each other. It is a place with a yard in which the warm sunlight shines on it and where the sound of waves never stops. Moreover, there is a stone house built by an owner’s grandfather. In the old Jeju house, which was originally built in a flat structure, parts intersect to provide relief in one's mind and body. The host couple has retained their memories and innocence in the stone house where they spent their childhood and added new features to create a space for the family.
As one climbs the stairs between the high stone walls, an open courtyard unfolds, and two small stone buildings are facing each other. In the outbuilding where its windows capture the outside sea, there is a dining area with its large table and a bedroom with its bathroom. Moreover, in the main building where one can notice the atmosphere of Jeju from its indoor flower garden covered with red volcanic stones, the three zones consisting of two bedrooms and a bathroom are connected by one long wall that exposes the ceiling above it. The living room becomes the perfect spot for spending time together with one’s friends and family. The small and large windows, all of which are on the shorter side, bring in the sceneries of the stone walls and outdoor plants into the house.
What's more, one can also run and jump in the playground for hopscotch located on one side of the yard by drawing numbers in the squares on the basement. Or perhaps, one can otherwise have fun playing jack marbles. Such elements are a small gift from the host couple who hopes for both adults and children to laugh and enjoy as if they are in their pure childhood days during their stay here. There is also a deck where one can hold a barbecue against the backdrop of the sea at sunset, where the red lighthouse and boats cast their shadows. Lowjeju is indeed a cozy place fixed up with a 'low' perspective, following the form of the old Jeju’s 'flat' house. We hope that all of the time you spend here would become a rewarding experience that will enhance your future travel expectations and motivations.
