The Place where the Scenery is Framed to Permeate in the House
Handong-ri, a quiet seaside town in the northeast of Jeju, is where one can see the bluest sea in Jeju. After concluding a busy daily routine in the mainland, the host couple moved down to Jeju and have settled in Handong-ri to open 'mackerel-stay'. It was named after the memory when they had mackerel sashimi which tasted so amazing without ever making one get tired of such flavors, in spite of their presumption that expected it to taste plainly fishy. mackerel-stay was designed as both an elegant and comfortable space without being too pretentious for the guests to feel the environment of Jeju wholeheartedly.
mackerel-stay, which consists of three double rooms, offers the same structure, size, and fee for all rooms. For a cozy rest, the bedrooms are divided into two levels, and the interior is filled with cool colors and minimal items. Not only can the sea be seen through the window of the room, but on a clear day, Halla Moutain can also be observed far away from inside the bedroom. Owing to the hotel-style, pure cotton beddings, goose-down duvets, and organic amenities, having a rest here is extremely comfortable and satisfying.
On the 1st floor of mackerel stay, they are preparing to open a cafe & pub called 'Osmosis'. Just like osmosis, which means to slowly permeate from the concentrated side to the diluted side, they hope that it will become another space that gradually appeals to visitors. One can spend a leisurely time strolling through a secluded beach in the background of the sunset at Handong-ri, a hidden spot in the east coast of Jeju, or reading a book by the window while listening to music selected by the hosts to suit the atmosphere of Jeju.
