Creative Space as if you are Floating on the Sea or the Moon
Wollyeong, in the west of Jeju, is famous for its cactus colonies and beautiful sea. Right in front of the Wollyeong beach, 'Moonwalk', is a private rental house where one can rest while watching the sea, built by the hands of architect Kim Heon. The exterior was designed in a simple, but delicate against the backdrop of the sea, sky, and nature. The interior has differentiated the levels of various zones to evoke a unique sense of space. The contract between the two sides strikes one as Moonwalk's own charm.
When one looks out through the windows that spread out like a panorama, it feels free and unreal as if you are walking on the moon floating above the sea, just like the house name implies. Inside the building, the corridor, living room, dining area, and the hinoki bathtub, all on different floors, lead to each other in an open space. You can relax in the cozy loft or have cheerful gatherings at the vast table in the living room that also serves as a dining area, or soak your lower body in the natural hinoki bathtub located at one side of the venue.
Should one be a tourist in Jeju who desperately seeks a quiet rest, picking Moonwalk as the travel destination would be an exceptional choice. Since it is a house constructed with the philosophy of the architect, a vague impression of 'excellency' comes to mind when one enters the building. One shall also witness every moment of Jeju's sea as it changes its presentation with the passage of weather or time. In particular, the view of the sea that touches the sky at sunset is a short, dreamlike performance that you might want to capture in your eyes as you would sincerely miss it later on.
