In front of a vast and green grassland, flows a stream through a valley and stretches dense green forest. With the roof in its sun-kissed red hue blending well into the landscape, Owol School creates its unique atmosphere in Owol-ri, a sequestered village of on the outskirts of Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. A design studio, “bplusm” revised what was formerly an annex building of a local elementrary school for fifteen years since the first opening in 1969 and transformed into a place for anyone to reenergize themselves from effortlessly beautiful nature.

With the entrance door at the center, a café is located on the left side and a space exclusive for guests staying in Owol School, on the right. The lounge is designed for visitors to experience furniture built by bplusm, while enjoying food and drink. All four of guest rooms in three different room types are prepared with wooden decks that you could relax in an arborous environment. While “square” room has a queen-sized bed by the window side that you could appreciate outside view in bed, “magarine” room has an bunker bed, with an underneath space arousing cozy atmosphere. On the other hand, “asone” and “multiply” rooms – the guest rooms with attics – nudges its guests into curling up in bed to gaze at sky through ceilings.

Besides, Owol School readily offers family-friendly spaces and programs. Guests staying in Owol School may use a camper van standing on the playground to give a try for camping out for a while. The former school cafeteria has transformed into a dining space to serve healthy menus, and the workshop in the back offers programs for parents and children to experience woodwork and thus, spend quality time together. Truly, Owol School has paid attention even to the smallest detail.
Thus, it is highly recommended to spare your time to be closer to nature while you make most of what Owol School can offer.
