The old house of Jeju, which meets the mysterious Gotjawal.

Dwell Jeju retains the characteristics of the original wooden structure in Southern part of Jeju and the locality of Jeju as a construction reflecting the long time. Also, It has been raised up as a housing type of Jeju with residents' lives. We were fascinated by this old house and the its architecture. When the walls and ceilings of a ruined house were revealed, we knew by intuition that what we had to do was to leave the most important thing in this house, beyond its beautiful design, and its existence in a tradition and times. Designing the old tree with rough, warm sensibilities into one having own present functions truely, We thought of a new possibility of capturing modern minimal lifestyle in a furniture-style structure, such as artifacts that had been obscured by the function. This house, open toward the Gotjawal forest, was designed to be in harmony with nature. With its independent structure and minimal furnishings throughout each space, it invites a simple, slow-paced way of living. Located on the western side of Seogwipo in Jeju, Mureung Village is often likened to the utopian paradise from an old Chinese tale, symbolizing an ideal and beautiful place.
