"Norden Ruder" means Northern Rudder in German. From its name, it is easy to realize their passion of guiding the travelers as the North Star always do. Norden Ruder Hostel Taitung, formerly known as the "Shengdu Hotel" in the Baosang area of Taitung. The original structure of the old building has been preserved. A huge light well has been opened up to allow the building to breathe naturally and the sunlight to flow through the central courtyard. With the addition of the light well, sounds resonate easily within the hostel which makes them more noticeable. Please keep the volume down when moving around the building, quietly enjoy the view of the central courtyard, and share the space with other travelers.

When staying with friends or family, guests can easily utilize the hostel's facilities and have a pleasant journey together. Additionally, due to the proximity to the Zhi-Hang Air Force Base, various types of aircraft fly over often. The roaring sound has become a part of Taitung’s daily life.
