Restoration of a Small Hanok Built in 1945
Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is a city of a thousand years and has accumulated a quiet atmosphere over the course of centuries. The village of Gukdang, located in the south of Sajeong-dong, today's Hwangridan-gil, is said to have a lot of fine sand. It is a peaceful village with proximity to nature. Stay Boruem provides a low, tidy hanok space that is reminiscent of Gyeongju. 'Boruem' is a Korean word that means full moon and bright moon, and it connotes that it is intended to be a place for guests to enjoy their leisure time. The host wanted to convey the warmth and comfort of the countryside to those who stayed at the place.

Stay Boruem consists of three distinct spaces: Living Zone, Dining Zone, and Art Pavilion. To revive the atmosphere of hanok, the space was renovated while maintaining the basic structure (columns, beams, rafters) of the hanok built in 1945, while incorporating conveniences from traditional roof tiles and old wooden materials. In the Living Zone, the main space, there is a bedroom with daylight, a neat tea ceremony room, a TV room, a bathroom, a shower room, as well as a jacuzzi with a round moon-shaped window. The Dining Zone includes a dining area and a bathroom. By breaking up the dining area into a Dining Zone, it was intended that the Living Zone's bedrooms and tea rooms would serve as spaces for rest. Furthermore, the Art Pavilion, a separate outdoor space, is an ideal location for enjoying coffee, tea, and refreshments under the cool breeze. During times when the Stay Boruem is not operating as an accommodation, small-scale performances and exhibitions are frequently staged.

A private bath can be taken in the jacuzzi of the Living Zone at any time of year, regardless of the weather. We can relax after relieving the accumulated fatigue by taking a stroll along Namcheon Waterfront Park when the wind blows. Woljeonggyo Bridge and Kyochon Village are cultural sites that can be reached in 20 minutes on foot. If you have the time, it would be nice to visit Donggung Palace and Wolji, where the night view is fantastic. We encourage you to spend a peaceful day here, which is not artificial, but rather simple and natural.
